Fortuna Chinese Restaurant
Operating in Scarborough for almost 30 years, Fortuna Chinese Restaurant has become a local landmark, famous for serving fresh Chinese cuisine in a comfortable and authentic setting. Behind the elegant 1930's façade a long, polished she-oak bar greets you with an enticing & very personal selection of wines, spirits and beers. Hayley and Jason Walker would like to welcome you to their European style brasserie in the heart of Subiaco. Perfect to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, with ample parking at the rear of the restaurant off York Street. Jason began his career at The London Hilton before a successful career in five star cuisine with Europe’s top chefs, including Marco Pierre White, Eric Chavot, Gary Rhodes, and Pierre Koffman. Jason gained valuable knowledge as well as a great passion and enthusiasm for cooking whilst in London. He has brought this passion to Perth at Chapter One brasserie. Hayley learned the very best in hospitality systems and procedures under Rocco Forte, europe’s premier luxury hotel operator. From there she set up a bistro in Spain, beginning a love affair with Spanish cuisine. Back in London after five years, Hayley set up and managed a modern wine bar on The Kings Road in Chelsea, before moving up the road to work for Terrance Conran as a head waiter at The Bluebird Gastronome.
The Windsor was built between 1895 and 1898 and remains one of the great surviving hotels in Australia. The Windsor is a fine example of the commercial architecture of prominent Perth architect JJ Talbot Hobbs. JJ also designed the Swan Brewery in Mount street, so he understood a bit about beer. The Windsor was built for George Strickland for the princely sum of four thousand and fifty pounds. Presently listed with the national trust and owned and cared for by the Ogden family, the Windsor has recently undergone a make-over which mixes its historic charm with contemporary chic.The former public bar has been transformed into the modern boutique Mends St Bar, the old restaurant is now a colourful café bar, the old Sluggers Bar is long gone, the area now a beautiful bar and garden. With well over 100 years of operation The Windsor has seen many generations come and go.
